The Infusion nurses society (INS) India has played a pivotal role in advancing infusion therapy through education, professional development, evidence-based practice, and advocacy for patient safety. Its commitment to strengthening competencies and promoting clinical excellence has significantly contributed to the evolution of infusion nursing as a specialized discipline with a profound impact on healthcare outcomes.
The growth and influence of INS India reflect the foresight of visionary nursing leaders and the steadfast support of industry partners who have worked collaboratively to elevate infusion nursing.
As healthcare becomes increasingly complex, technology-driven, and outcome-focused, the advancement of a specialty depends not only on clinical expertise, but also on the strength of its scholarly foundations. True professional distinction lies in the ability to generate knowledge, foster scientific inquiry, influence practice, and translate evidence into better outcomes for patients.
It is within this context that the Journal of Infusion Nurses Society of India (JINS) assumes particular significance.
More than a publication, JINS has the potential to serve as an intellectual platform that advances scholarship, promotes professional dialogue, and strengthens the evidence base underpinning infusion therapy. It offers a valuable opportunity to bring together clinicians, educators, researchers, and nursing leaders in a shared pursuit of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.
The future of infusion nursing is being shaped by advances in vascular access technologies, evolving therapeutics, digital health, precision medicine, and an unwavering focus on patient safety. Responding effectively to these developments requires a workforce that is not only clinically proficient but also committed to research, lifelong learning, and evidence-informed practice. Equally important is the need to cultivate a culture where nurses move beyond being consumers of knowledge to becoming active contributors to the science that informs care.
Across healthcare organizations, nurses continue to lead innovation, quality improvement, and patient-centered care initiatives. Yet many valuable insights generated through practice remain confined within institutional boundaries. Scholarly platforms such as JINS provide an avenue to capture these experiences, transform them into evidence, and disseminate them for the benefit of the wider professional community. In doing so, they contribute to both individual professional growth and the collective advancement of the specialty.
The strength of any profession is reflected in the strength of its scholarship. Scientific discourse informs practice, shapes standards, influences policy, and enhances professional credibility. Every research article, clinical review, case report, quality initiative, and innovation published in JINS represents a meaningful contribution to the advancement of infusion nursing.
The Infusion Nursing Society India deserves commendation for its vision in nurturing this important academic platform. As the journal evolves, its success will depend on its ability to uphold scientific rigor, encourage meaningful research, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and inspire the next generation of nurse researchers and leaders. Through the collective efforts of its editorial leadership, advisory board, reviewers, authors, and readers, JINS can emerge as a trusted and influential voice for infusion nursing, both nationally and globally.
As nursing professionals, our mandate extends far beyond the delivery of exemplary care. We are stewards of knowledge, champions of scientific rigor, and architects of the profession's future trajectory. By cultivating a culture of scholarship, advancing intellectual inquiry, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, we can strengthen the academic foundations of infusion nursing, influence contemporary healthcare practice, and drive meaningful improvements in patient outcomes.
Ultimately, the legacy of JINS will not be defined by the number of articles it publishes, but by its ability to inspire inquiry, advance practice, influence standards, and elevate the voice of infusion nursing within the broader healthcare landscape.

A Brief Multimodal Simulation Bundle for Peripheral Intravenous Catheter Competency: A Practical Educational Innovation for Infusion Nursing

Rita Lakhani

Volume 1, Issue 1 • November 2026

Abstract: Peripheral intravenous catheter (PIVC) insertion and management are fundamental nursing responsibilities that require psychomotor skill, clinical judgment, communication, and timely recognition of complications. Although simulation is increasingly used in nursing education, competency development may be strengthened when different learning modalities are deliberately combined rather than used in isolation. This article proposes a brief, multimodal simulation bundle for PIVC competency that integrates task-trainer practice, scenario-based learning, optional peer role-play, virtual or branching clinical cases, structured feedback, and competency verification. The proposed model is informed by existing evidence supporting simulation and blended learning in PIVC and nursing education; however, the complete bundle has not been evaluated as a single intervention. The approach is designed to be resource-conscious and adaptable to orientation, continuing education, and competency programs. It offers infusion nurse educators a practical framework for connecting technical skills with clinical reasoning and patient-centered communication while maintaining alignment with current infusion therapy standards. From Skill to Safety: The Role of Simulation-Based Education in Preventing Infusion-Related Errors in Nursing Practice

Jaideep Herbert

Volume 1, Issue 1 • November 2026

Abstract: Infusion therapy is a high-volume, complex clinical intervention prone to errors across patient identification, medication delivery, vascular access, and device operation. Translating evidence- based standards into consistent clinical behavior requires competencies beyond procedural skills. Simulation-based education addresses this gap by offering a risk-free environment for nurses to practice psychomotor technical skills, clinical judgment, infection control, and non-technical safety behaviors. Integrating realistic clinical scenarios—such as infiltration, extravasation, and pump programming errors—with deliberate practice, structured debriefing, and objective competency validation converts theoretical knowledge into observable safety performance. Evidence indicates that simulation enhances medication safety, error recognition, communication, and situational awareness. When linked with standard operating procedures, clinical audits, and continuous quality governance, simulation transitions infusion training from routine procedural execution to a robust patient-safety system. Bridging theoretical learning and clinical practice through simulation ensures nurses effectively anticipate, detect, and mitigate infusion-related risks before patient harm occurs. Keywords:

Building the Future of Infusion Nursing—One Discovery, One Innovation, One Patient at a Time

Dr. Jaideep Herbert

Volume 1, Issue 1 • November 2026

Abstract: Healthcare is not transformed by technology alone—it is transformed by people who continuously question existing practices, seek better solutions, and remain committed to improving patient care. Every advancement begins with curiosity, every best practice is strengthened by evidence, and every meaningful breakthrough begins with someone asking, "Can we do this better?
